Food Allergy Update!!!

Ben went to a new allergy doctor this morning. I made an appointment with a new doctor cause I just wasn't in agreement with the last doctor. Not that I didn't believe that he had showed a reaction to egg and peanut when they tested him, but I thought it was excessive to expect us to come in every 6 months and not have a plan to retest him until he was 5. So anyway, the new doctor retested him today for egg and peanut and he had no reaction! I was originally told he would most likely grow out of the egg allergy, but not the peanut. So I find it suspicious that he is testing negative now. The new doc even said that a minor skin reaction like he would have isn't really an allergy. Plus despite contacting the old doctor and filing paperwork to have his records transferred they didn't do that. The new doc has given us the green light to slowly start reintroducing egg and peanut into his diet. We will be celebrating this evening with some brown sugar cookies! Hurray!

Great, Great Grandma Nemeth

Here's some of the boys great, great grandma's handy work that's now hanging in our dining room. I was only about 5 when she passed, but I still have a few fond memories of her. One is of sitting with her on the couch while she watched Lawrence Welk. I'd rest my head on her arm and listen to the creaking in her joints as she crocheted. She was always crocheting. My other memory is eating Rice Crispies cereal from a bowl resting on a little round foot stool and she'd tell me, "Listen, do you hear that? They're saying eat me, eat me."

Super Heros

…of the kitchen.

As usual it takes two seperate picture to get each of them smiling.

Running

Well, I don't know how to make a workout entry like Donna's blog, but I thought I'd share that I ran just over 6 miles on Sunday. Most of it at 5.5 mph. That's my longest run to date. I, of course, am not training for a half marathon, but I am considering our local Cinco de Mayo 5k. I'll see how I feel about it once it gets closer.

More bummer news

Things just don't seem to be going my way. I got my juror selection survey this weekend. So I'm assuming I'll have to go to jury duty soon. I can only look on the bright side, at least Drew Peterson's trial has already started and I won't get picked for that.

I'm so bummed

So I've been taking the boys to Great Clips because they usually do a better haircut than I do. This is the exception. I should have know better. I could see the fear/panic in her eyes. This "hairstylist" had no children skills. She tried blaming his uneven bangs on his colic, not her cutting. Poor Neil was getting so worked up he was almost crying. Finally I told her to stop trying to correct the chunk she had taken out of his bangs and just let us leave, otherwise I'd never get him to come back again. So this is what we have to live with for the next month after I brought him home and fixed it with our clippers. Thankfully the stylist who did Ben's hair quickly and nicely told us we didn't have to pay for Neil's cut.

Neil still has plenty to smile about though.

Fancy and schmancy

We got our new king-size bed this week. Thank you to June and Joan who helped outfit it in style. We still haven't made it a full night with both of us in the bed, but that's pretty normal. Brian has a sinus infection, the snoring is worse, and the neighbor's bloody dogs were non-stop barking the night before that.
